Anambra Welfare Foundation Plans Crucial Safeguarding Event for March 2025
In response to the increasing concern of migrant parents losing custody of their children to social services, primarily due to a lack of understanding of U.K. laws and cultural expectations, the Anambra Welfare Foundation is organising an important safeguarding event scheduled for March 2025. This initiative aims to empower parents by equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate the complexities of child safeguarding in the U.K.
Recognising the challenges faced by migrant families, the Anambra Welfare Foundation sees the urgent need to bridge the gap between cultural parenting practices and the legal expectations within the U.K. The forthcoming event seeks to tackle these challenges directly, providing a platform for education, dialogue, and support.
The safeguarding event will feature expert-led workshops and presentations covering a range of topics relevant to child safety and welfare. Legal experts, social workers, and community leaders will discuss the essential aspects of U.K. child protection laws, offering
clear insights into legal responsibilities and expected parenting standards.
In addition to the informative sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in open discussions and role-playing scenarios designed to build confidence and understanding in approaching sensitive situations. The event will also offer a support network where parents can connect with professionals and peers, fostering a community of shared learning and support.
Recognising the diverse needs of the community, the event will be inclusive and accessible. Translators and culturally sensitive materials will ensure that every participant can fully engage and benefit from the discussions.
The Anambra Welfare Foundation is committed to safeguarding the well-being of children and empowering parents through education. By equipping parents with knowledge and resources, the foundation aims to reduce misunderstandings and improve outcomes for families within the community.
As March 2025 approaches, the Anambra Welfare Foundation invites all migrant parents and community members to attend this vital event. Together, attendees can work towards a better understanding of U.K. safeguarding laws and practices, ensuring that children are protected and families are supported.
